This just in from the BBC -
Azharrudin Ismail, the child actor from Slumdog Millionaire has a new home.
According to the story -
“There was uproar in May when the family’s corrugated iron hut in the Gareeb Nagar area of Bandra was torn down for being illegal. Rubina Ali’s suffered a similar fate but she has yet to be rehoused.”
So one homeless family has a roof over their head for the first time.
There is much to do if we going to change the fates of those shut out from the blessings you and I enjoy.

Here is the original story:
Here is the latest back and forth:
Since the father of one of the children tried to sell her – the producers have experienced public relations nightmare.
Bit of more than they can chew.

The child actor, Azharrudin Ismail, who appeared in Academy Award winning film – Slumdog Millionaire - is now homeless.
The police whacked him before demolishing their make-shift hovel.
I don’t understand why the children involved were not compensated enough to get their families out of the ghetto.
Apparently a fund has been set up for their schooling, but without a proper homelife, how good is that going to be?
Slumdog Millionaire has made 200 million world wide – isn’t there enough to get the children out of the poverty which so poignantly figured in the depiction?
According to the BBC article:
The mother of the child actor said that she did not know what would happen to her family now and that the help promised by local authorities and by the film’s makers had not materialised.
“Our house has been broken down by officials. We have not been given any alternate accommodation. Earlier the authorities had said they would give us a house. But I don’t think that will happen any more,” Shamim Ismail told the BBC.
This is shameful and outrageous.
I implore the director – Danny Boyle - to get the children the accomodation he promised them.
Or else his celluloid fantasy will be just a cruel joke.

Yuk; Yuk; a thousand times YUK! But I gotta tell you LuRain, we can’t wait for the Danny Boyle’s of the planet to do the the right thing; this is not only his responsibility (and it is) but it is also for us, the maintenance drinkers in the audience of the absurd. Rhetorical Q of the day; What do WE do?
The lady I live with spent a lot of time last night trying to find a way to reach Mr. Boyle. Apparently, he does not Twitter. There is an address of his agent folks can write an actual letter to -

What we can do is raise a stink! Creat a Wall of Shame. These guys need to committ to their promises. Boycott the movie until it is done!
