This dear sweet old nun, who hasn’t voted since Eisenhower, is mailing in her absentee for Obama.

She made the assessment with common sense and by God’s good grace, come to conclusion he the right man for the job of the moment.

I can’t imagine being 106 years alive. She looks good! Must be all that clean living.

I put off writing because, frankly, I was so disgusted and exhausted by all the events swirling around, I had to prop my legs up, put a cooling cabbage leaf on my head, and drink till I didn’t care no more.

But this last week reminded me so much of the past, in terms of dirty politics, inept and lying government, and economic misery, I sobered up fast.

Every religion has claimed to have the insight into the Mind of God, and are willing to defend their enlightenment to the Death of everyone who disagree with them.

From the beginning of time, soldiers marching to the beat of having Him on their side.

That’s suggesting the Creator roots for the grasshopper, while hating the grasshopper-killing wasp.

Where’s the logic?

Why create them both in the first place?

Don’t it make sense that having made them, they are equally loved and essential to the balance of Creation?

How disappointed God must be; humans still resorting to violence and claiming Divine approval, after all these millenium, learning nothing in the process.

To anyone who thinks our choice is either war or capitulation -

  your box is too small.

The real TASK is to find the right ways to solve our problems that end destruction and suffering in the world, and heals the Gift we have been given.

Mr. Ledger’s last bow – Joker’s Wild

 

Heath Ledger ends his career with a stunning performance.

His Joker in the latest Batman movie, is complex and disturbing to the extreme.

What an artist fashions, is made manifest.

It exists as a separate entity.

Folks not involved in this process, have no idea what it takes to pull a being from their body and make it  live - to be puppet and Puppet master simultaneously.

The audience can therefore, be over-awed or dismissive – either way they on the outer limits of the procedure, and never really understand how such a transformation is achieved, and at what cost to the actor’s id.

Mr. Ledger’s Joker reminds me of Nylon Turner, a drug dealer I met in Florida many years ago. In his later life, Nylon became addicted to amphetamines. He had a habit of obsessively running his tongue around in his mouth, it was uncontrollable and constant.

The Joker is a speed freak.

 By using such a detail as a master gesture, Mr. Ledger fully forms this nasty man.

It is uncomfortable to watch, and I am sure not easy to do.

No wonder he was troubled by it; that poison presence leached into his soul.

We must be mindful of what we create.

It survives us.

I hear there is talk about giving him a posthumous award. 

Some think this unwarranted.

Frankly, he should have got Best Actor for Brokeback Mountain.

 Somehow, he ought to get the credit for bringing hundreds of millions of bucks to the industry in a twinkling.

He is the very best thing in a movie replete with twisty plot overlay and small parts.

LuRain Penny – Dicking with the facts: VP office ‘edits’ science on global warming

  

 

Inspite of science and signs, this Administration denied the Global Warming phemonomen for years. This allowed them to reject treaties, and keep their industrial polluting buddies in booming business.

Finally they succumbed to the massive evidence. However, they are not content to get on the survival bandwagon with the rest of us. Manipulation and distraction is their speciality. 

For quite a while they have been pressuring scientists to down play the consequences of climate change. To remove whole sections of evaluation from published reports and now to hide the worst prognostications from Congressional committee.

This news has not had much play on the straight news. We heard it on the NPR while coming back from the doctor.

Thank God, their over-reaching ineptitude out strips their evil ambition.

Until the new President is sworn in, I will not rest easy.

It is still possible these goons will fabricate a reason to declare martial law and suspend the election.

Keep an ear open for the ratcheting up of agression.

It won’t be over till tubby gets his bed out of the bunker.
